SPORTSFEST!- THE AMERICAN SPORTS ADVENTURE TO BE A BIG HIT AT L.A. COUNTY FAIR

SportsFest!- The American Sports Adventure is coming to the L.A. County Fair and it promises to be an experience that youths will love as well as the athlete and sports buff in all of us. SportsFest! is presented by Miller Lite.

When you enter Fairplex 22, you will no longer be at Fairplex – you will enter a replicated version of the famous Wrigley Field major league ballpark to give visitors that authentic American pastime experience. On the field, separate setups for each of the featured sports will be presented.

The history of Southern California’s professional sports teams will be shown through a huge collection of sports memorabilia representing the Dodgers, Angels, Lakers, Clippers, Sparks, Galaxy, Mighty Ducks, Kings, PGA and LPGA. Fairguests will have the opportunity to meet some of the stars of these teams at Autograph Alley. Dates will be posted on the Web site soon.

SportsFest will feature the “Football and America” exhibit, produced by the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. The National Football League and its players have answered the call during times of national crisis and military conflict since its founding in 1920 and this exhibit takes a look at this heroism from World War II through the present.

The largest exhibit will be “Baseball – America’s Game” featuring displays and artifacts from the Great National Pastime including women in baseball, legends of the game, béisbol – Latin American baseball, the Negro leagues, origin of baseball, presidential pitch, evolution of equipment, Little League baseball, history of the All Star Game, and an extensive display of rare and vintage baseball cards. Guests will even have a chance to “Touch Babe’s Bat” at a dramatic recreation of a Yankee Stadium dugout featuring uniformed replicas of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig along with a collection of their actual equipment.

Each featured sport will have a historical setup much like the one for baseball and interactive skills challenges such as football’s quarterback toss and field-goal challenge, three-point shootout for basketball, slapshot contest for hockey, goal patrol for soccer, and even a twisting miniature golf course.

A variety of sports arcade games and interactive computer games will also be displayed at SportsFest.

SportFest will be the most comprehensive, educational and highly interactive attraction ever presented by the L.A. County Fair and one that will have everyone yelling, “Play Ball!”

L.A. County Fair dates are Sept. 9-Oct. 2, closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Live thoroughbred horse racing returns Sept. 9-26, closed Tuesdays only. For more information, visit our Web Site at www.lacountyfair.com, or call (909) 623-3111.
