L.A. COUNTY FAIR RECEIVES INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION FROM IAFE
The L.A. County Fair received accolades from the International Association of Fairs and Expositions (IAFE) during its recently concluded annual convention held in Las Vegas.
The international recognition was for the Best Overall Agricultural Programming for the Fair Public for the Nutrition Ranch and Classroom. John Deere, an enthusiastic supporter of the Fair and Expo industry, sponsors the award. The winning entries, submitted in a variety of categories, are evaluated and judged by a team of industry leaders selected from IAFE, which has a global membership of more than 3,200.
FairView Farms houses the L.A. County Fairís horticulture and agriculture exhibits and competitions. It is a favorite among Fairguests and is visited by more than 100,000 school children from elementary and middle schools throughout Southern California. The youngsters attend the Fair free of charge as part of the Fairís FairKids Discovery Club. The emphasis on education complements the Fairplex foundations that serve as vehicles for the promotion of year-round and fairtime educational programming.
The 2005 L.A. County Fair hosted 1,328,105 visitors during its 18-day annual appearance. The Fair is a Southern California mainstay, celebrating its 84th anniversary in 2006.
