Fairplex is no stranger to Southern California, it’s home of the largest county fair in the nation, the annual L.A. County Fair. But it’s also hitting home runs in the convention and trade show industry. Fairplex recently hosted six shows that ranked among the top 15 in Southern California based on attendance—Asian American Expo, 53^rd Annual California RV Show, Off Road Expo, 41^st Annual L.A. Roadsters Show, Tattoo & Body Art Expo and International Sportsmen’s Expo. Average attendance was more than 40,000.

            The results appeared in the Los Angeles Business Journal’s report of the top convention and trade shows for 2005, with Fairplex-based events scoring high - six for 15 - a record any team would boast.

Dale Coleman, Fairplex vice president of sales, marketing and creative programming, was very pleased. Coleman said, “Being positioned on 543 acres with 325,000 square feet of exhibit space gives us the capability to provide for a variety of events. It’s gratifying to have so many large events choose Fairplex as their venue of choice, and a compliment to our staff who consistently receive high marks from our show promoters.”

Fairplex is a seasoned veteran, established in the neighborhood and making contributions in one of the fastest growing and economically charged regions in California. A very familiar facility, Fairplex has been in the convention and exposition business since 1984. There are more than 300 year-round events, attracting 1.7 million annual visitors. The events calendar reflects the versatile and diverse presentations. A glance shows that on any given month visitors can attend events as varied as auto racing, home and garden shows, boat shows, cultural festivals and international equine auctions. Staff can accommodate from 10 to10, 000, and does.                                                                     

A sampling of consumer shows at Fairplex May 5-7 include West Coast Historical Militaria Collectibles Show, 9^th Pomona Nitro Nationals, The Woodworking Shows, Computer Fair, Police Expo & Family Security Show, Spring Fling Plantation Walking Horse Show and California Rabbit & Cavy Show. In addition, patrons can watch and wager on the May 6 Kentucky Derby at Fairplex Park, a year-round satellite wagering facility.
