The state of California 48th District Agricultural Association’s annual agriculture fair will sprout at Fairplex May 17 – 21. The Schools’ Involvement Fair is an educational event featuring thousands of agricultural entries from more than 100 schools in the greater Los Angeles basin. The event attracts students, families, educators, and community members to celebrate the achievements of local students (pre-K through high school) and teachers, and to educate the attendees about the importance of agriculture and nutrition to California.
Dubbed Bee Aware of California Agriculture, the fair will feature thousands of individual and classroom exhibits/projects including art, photography, beneficial insects and worms, birdhouses, crafts, horticulture, hydroponics, mission models, paintings, posters, quilts, quilt blocks, sawhorses, scarecrows, school garden projects, science projects, terrariums and trout-in-the-classroom projects.
Invited guests will get an opportunity to meet A.G. Kawamura, secretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture during a special community spotlight extravaganza Friday, May 19. chinabnr.c
