KABOOM! Fairplex’s 4th of July fireworks spectacular is a dramatic display of pyrotechnics presented by industry leader Pyro Spectaculars of Rialto, perfectly choreographed to patriotic music in a moving tribute celebrating Independence Day. The fireworks finale, however, is preceded by a couple of significant elements that gives this show a leg up, a resounding pop above the rest. Bring on the freestyle motocross—those daring young men on the high-flying motorcycles that make somersaults, flips, and quite literally, being physically separated from their bikes after projecting themselves off a ramp, airborne 20 feet in the air—look routine. Well, there’s actually nothing routine about the feats performed by the riders and the knowing audience roars its approval. Scheduled to appear are thrill-givers Billy Walls, Jimmy Fitzpatrick, Nixey Danielson and Todd Potter. Enter element No. 2, as the roar of monster trucks fills the arena and the crowd erupts in welcome for Bounty Hunter, Natural High, Obsession, Unnamed Untamed and Nasty Boy. These big boys spin, they jump, and they make the earth shake and the dirt fly, with a down and dirty four-wheeled frenzy that drives the crowd wild. The audience gets the opportunity to cast a vote for favorites, securing bragging rights for one of the behemoths. KABOOM! is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Departing from a daylong event into its current winning combination has resulted in sold-out shows since introduced as a strictly nighttime event in 2002. It’s fun, exciting and patriotic family entertainment. This year’s theme is “The Spirit of America.” Ticket prices remain the same as 2005—box seats $19.50, trackside bleachers $16, general admission seating $12 and free for ages 2 and younger. Tickets are available now at www.ticketmaster.com, Ticketmaster locations and at the Fairplex credentials office, right up to showtime on Tuesday, July 4, beginning at 8 p.m. KABOOM! is presented by Toyota, Coca-Cola and Show Ready. Special thanks to Budweiser Select, M.R. Bracey Construction and Rankin Construction. Acts are subject to change. For more information, visit the Web site at www.fairplex.com.
