Step up to the table and be prepared for blinds, the flop and Fifth Street at the Poker & Ponies Texas Hold ‘Em Tournaments on two consecutive Thursdays on Clubhouse Level 3 at Fairplex Park, home of thoroughbred horse racing,. Texas Hold ‘Em is the poker game that’s the rage in casinos, on The Travel Channel’s World Poker Tour and ESPN’s World Series of Poker.
Everybody wins. All entrants will receive a $10 betting voucher to play the ponies at Fairplex Park, a custom sports bag and Fairplex playing cards. A Texas-size grand prize awaits the winner of each tournament: Airfare and 3-day, 2-night luxury accommodations for 2 adults at the Las Vegas Mandalay Bay Hotel AND a 42-inch HD plasma flat-screen TV! Each finalist will win a Canon digital camera.
The entry fee is $100 per person per tournament. Three groups of 100 players compete to qualify for the final round at 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. One player at each table qualifies for the final round. Time limit is 1 hour 30 minutes with the top chip leader winning at time limit. The final round is played at 5:30 p.m. The tournament director’s decisions are final.
Proceeds from the Poker & Ponies Tournaments will benefit the Fairplex Education Foundation, which supports creative teaching strategies and educational programs that bring curriculum to life and promote a long-term interest in learning.
Live thoroughbred horse racing runs from Sept. 8 – 25, closed Tuesdays only. The Fair runs for 18 days from Sept. 8 – Oct. 1, closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
