The best in traditional and contemporary Irish music, song and dance will highlight the 5th annual Los Angeles County Irish Fair and Music Festival, a giant pre-St. Patrick's Day celebration, being held March 10-11 at Fairplex.
Eight musical stages will feature the Irish fusion music of Skelpin' on Saturday, and Celtic rock favorites The Young Dubliners on Sunday. Performing both days are The Mulligans, Des Regan Band, Dublin 4, American Wake, 42 Highlander Pipers, Cripple Creek Cloggers, Royal Scottish Dancers, and McCartan Dancers.
Special attractions will include the Ancient Irish Village, where artisans and entertainers recreate the Ireland of yesterday, and the Children's Leprechaun Village, featuring storytelling and facepainting. Other activities include sheepherding exhibitions, Celtic caber-tossing athletes, and an old west showdown featuring the famed Temecula Gunfighters and the Fighting 69th.
Dozens of import shops feature clothing, jewelry arts, crafts and foods. A variety of wares and services will be available at the Irish Marketplace. The Fine Dining Pavilion will serve populare Irish fare like corned beef and cabbage and bangers, along with Irish coffee.
Gates open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Admission is $16 for adults, $12 for seniors 55+ and students with valid ID, and free for children 11 and younger.
