The state of California 48th District Agricultural Association’s annual agriculture fair will sprout at Fairplex May 16 – 20. The Schools’ Involvement Fair is an educational event featuring thousands of agricultural entries from more than 100 schools in the greater Los Angeles basin. The event attracts students, families, educators and community members to celebrate the achievements of local students (pre-K through high school) and teachers, and to educate the attendees about the importance of agriculture and nutrition to California.
With the theme “Food Grows Where Water Flows,” the fair will feature thousands of individual and classroom exhibits/projects including art, photography, beneficial insects and worms, birdhouses, crafts, horticulture, hydroponics, mission models, paintings, posters, quilts, quilt blocks, sawhorses, scarecrows, school garden projects, science projects, terrariums and trout-in-the-classroom projects.
Invited guests will get an opportunity to meet Timothy F. Brick, chairman of the board of directors and executive committee of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, during a special community spotlight extravaganza Wednesday, May 16, at the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum. Brick, the city of Pasadena’s representative to MWD, will speak on “The future of water, water supply, and sustainability and its impact on agriculture in Southern California.”
