Fingerpainters, photographers, cooks and singers, the L.A. County Fair is looking for you to display your talents at the America’s Kids exhibit. The Fair offers several contests open to individuals ages 3 to 18. There’s no fee to enter and entries for all America’s Kids contests must be postmarked by Aug. 1. So, hone your skills and find a place to display that blue ribbon.
All contests are listed on the Web site, www.lacountyfair.com, along with entry forms, rules and regulations. The Fair runs Sept. 7 – 30, closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
The Cozy Caterpillar Kitchen is home to several cooking contests – best cupcake, cookie, creative cake decorating and My Hero cooking/baking, where kids are asked to enter a cooked or baked item inspired by their hero.
The Harvest Celebration is seeking entries for the largest homegrown pumpkin, autumn crafts and a scarecrow building contest.
Family Fun Day gets the whole family involved with a pumpkin decorating contest (using edible material only) and a Family Talent Show. A writing competition is asking for stories on “A Fairy Tale of Me” and “My Hero” biographies. The perennial favorites are there too, like art, sewing, hobby collections and Lego/K’Nex building.
