TRANS WHAT?

The L.A. County Fair offers a tummy pleasin’ profusion of food, once-a-year favorites that Fairguests covet and anticipate with giddiness. This year Fair concessionaires will be reducing trans fats along with everyone else, but guests needn’t trans-form this news to anxiety producing levels. Rest assured that the deep-fried Twinkies, Oreos, Snickers, strawberries and other tasty delectables will still satisfy your cravings and keep you content for another year.

Basically reducing the amount of saturated and trans fats is attained by choosing healthy alternative products, for example vegetable oils, mono and polyunsaturates, in place of previously acceptable shortenings. Eat to your hearts content, within reason of course, and your heart will thank you.

The annual Fair makes its eagerly awaited 18-day appearance Sept. 7 to 30, closed Mondays and Tuesdays. A wide array of national and international items is served at more than 250 food and beverage stands, nestled within the palette of variety and diversity that comprises the L.A. County Fair.
