Knit one, purl two – faster, faster, faster! The popular knit and crochet speed contests are back at the 2007 L.A. County Fair. Contestants will display their abilities and agilities as the clock ticks down from 15 minutes. Interested knitters and crocheters need to submit their entry form by Friday, Aug. 24.
Contestants will gather Wednesday, Sept. 19 at The Village on Broadway’s Knitting Lounge. The knit contest is at noon, followed by crochet at 12:30 p.m. Check-in time for both contests is 11 a.m. A contest fee of $5 is required, to be returned with the entry form. Rules and entry forms can be obtained by visiting the Web site, www.lacountyfair.com and clicking on competitions.
Both contests have two divisions: senior (for ages 60 and older) and junior. Winners will have crocheted or knitted the greatest number of correct, completed patterns at the end of a 15-minute period. Directions for the knit and crochet patterns are on the Web page. Ribbons and certificates will be given for first through fourth places.
