Career and Technical Education Center Creating Opportunities for the Future
A year old, the Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC) has developed into a strong education force within the community. CTEC served nearly 600 students in 2009. The educational opportunities ranged from water technology studies that allowed 20 students to take the state certification test to middle school students taking introductory ceramics classes. To further its work, CTEC received two grants, one for $53,000 to start a commercial art drawing class and a $100,000 grant from the Ludwick Family Foundation to be used specifically for equipment and supplies. The Ludwick grant made it possible to purchase tools for fleet maintenance and horticulture and urban agriculture, three laptop computers and three SmartBoards for use in CTEC classes.
