Contest Rules
 
NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. ALL FEDERAL, STATE, LOCAL, AND MUNICIPAL LAWS AND REGULATIONS APPLY. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.
 
 1.  Eligibility

A Fairy Tale Wedding (the Contest) is open to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia who are at least eighteen (18) years old at the time of entry. Employees of Los Angeles County Fair Association and other companies associated with the promotion of the Contest, and their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates and advertising and promotion agencies as well as the immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings, and children) and household members of each such employee are not eligible. The Contest is subject to federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Only couples who are engaged to be married may enter to win. By submitting an entry to the contest, entrants agree to hold their wedding on the pre-selected date and at the pre-selected venue as noted in the Contest package if chosen as the winner. The package giveaway will cover a wedding of up to 20 guests maximum. No accommodations will be made or offered to additional wedding party guests. The Contest package may be changed by a chosen winner only at the discretion of Los Angeles County Fair Association and each vendor. The winner of this contest must agree with and abide by all the participating Los Angeles County Fair Association’s availability, schedules and guidelines and the Los Angeles County Fair Association’s instructions. The package cannot be transferred, in part or in whole, and has no cash value. All services and products included in the package must be used as presented unless the Los Angeles County Fair Association agrees or requests otherwise or at the discretion of the Los Angeles County Fair Association. The package serves as one prize and cannot be altered by the winner. There are no substitutions on any of the services offered.  
If the contest winner violates any part of these rules, including refusing to abide by the terms and conditions of the participating Fair-y Tale Wedding vendors, the contest winner will forfeit the award at the sole discretion of Los Angeles County Fair Association. In the event of a forfeiture, Los Angeles County Fair Association will award the Fair-y Tale Wedding award to the runner-up as determined at the close of voting on May 12, 2014 at noon Pacific time. (See, “How and When Winners Will Be Selected” below). By entering the Fair-y Tale Wedding, all entrants and the contest winner further agree they will not act in any manner that harms the reputation or business relationships of Los Angeles County Fair Association or any of the participating Fair-y Tale Wedding vendors. If, in Los Angeles County Fair Association’s sole discretion, it is determined that an entrant or contest winner is damaging the reputation or business relationships of Los Angeles County Fair Association or any of the participating Fair-y Tale Wedding vendors, the entrant will forfeit eligibility to participate in the contest or, in the case of a contest winner, forfeit the award.

 
 2. Los Angeles County Fair Association
               
The Fair-y Tale Wedding Contest is presented by the Los Angeles County Fair Association, located at 1101 McKinley, Pomona, California 91768.
 
 3.  Agreement to Official Rules

Participation in the Contest constitutes entrants full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules and the decisions of the Los Angeles County Fair Association, which are final and binding. Winning a prize is contingent upon being compliant with these Official Rules and fulfilling all other requirements set forth herein.
 
 4.  Contest Period
               
The Contest begins on March03, 2014 at 12:00 noon pacific standard and ends on May12, 2014 at 12:00 noon pacific standard (the Contest Period). Entries that are submitted before or after the Contest Period will be disqualified. Submissions will be accepted for the duration of the Contest using any of the following methods:.
 
 5.  How to Enter

  • Online:This is a social media-based contest.  All applicants must submit their applications via our website (www.fairplex.com/weddings/index.html) and follow the directions provided to submit all applicable entry information, including written and video portions.

 

For entries Online, just follow the directions at the website.  All applications submitted online must include:

(a) an explanation ofyour story, the reason(s) that you should be chosen for one of the four “Fair-y Tale Weddings” which is not more than 300 words or 1 type-written page (“Essay”),and

(b) Upload a 1-3 minute video to YouTubethat explains why you should have your wedding at the Fair.(“Video”).

(c) Upload a digital photo of you and your spouse-to-be through our website in an acceptable photo file format.  (Size limit of 5mbs).

 
  Limit one (1) entry per person, per email address, and per household for the duration of the Contest Period, regardless of method of entry. Entries received from any person, e-mail address, or householdin excess of the stated limitation will be void. All entries (including without limitation the Essay,Video and Photos) become the property of Los Angeles County Fair Association and will not be acknowledged or returned, and the Los Angeles County Fair will have rights to utilize the entry (including without limitation the Essay,Video and Photos) in its promotional materials.The Fair-y Tale Wedding Contest will be promoted through the following channels:

  • The Fairplex and Fair blogs

The Video submitted must be no less than one (1) minute and a maximumthree (3) minutes long in the following format: .wmv and .mov.  Contestant must post the Video on contestant’s YouTube account and submit the link URL to view the Video on the application website.All Videos must comply with applicable copyright law. Misuse of copyrighted media in the making of the Video will disqualify the contestant.
Los Angeles County Fair Association has reserved the right to review and reject any application in its sole discretion for any purpose and reason without notifying the entrant. By submitting materials to our Fair-Y Tale wedding website, each entrant represents that they consent to the rules of the contest. Entrants must not submit materials that display any derogatory, libelous content about Los Angeles County Fair Association or any of its Fair-y Tale Wedding Los Angeles County Fair Associations. Submission must not display any derogatory, libelous content, obscenities, profanities, vulgar language, lewd behavior, nudity or any sexually explicit depictions or anything deemed to be offensive, obscene or inappropriate. Los Angeles County Fair Association has the right to deem submissions inappropriate and can and will terminate the entrant from the Contest.
 
 6.  PrizeDrawing

Based on the entertainment value of the submitted applications, Los Angeles County Fair Association will choose the finalists through a panel of individual representatives from the marketing and sales departments of  the Los Angeles County Fair Association and Sheraton at the Fairplex.The winning applicants will be directly notified by a representative of the Los Angeles County Fair Association and informed of their assigned wedding date and location.   The Los Angeles County Fair Association will determinethe date and assignment of each of the four
Fair-y Tale Weddings.

Los Angeles County Fair Association reserves the right to alter the selection process at any time during the Contest as needed.  If Los Angeles County Fair Association believes a contestant may be cheating, the contestant may be eliminated from the contest. Decisions are final on all matters relating to the giveaway and may not be disputed.  
 
 7.  Winner Notification
 
The potential winners will be notified by email, mail or phone, as well as the Facebook page of  Fairplex. Each potential Fair-y Tale Wedding winner will be required to complete, electronically sign and submit a Declaration of Acceptance (including terms and conditions of use, releases respecting copyright and liability) within five (5) days of the date notice or attempted notice is sent, in order to claim his/her prize. If a potential winner cannot be contacted, or fails to submit the Declaration of Acceptance within the required time period (if applicable), or notice is returned as undeliverable, the potential winner forfeits the prize. If the potential winner is at least 18 but still considered a minor in his/her jurisdiction of residence, Los Angeles County Fair Association reserves the right to award the prize in the name of his/her parent or legal guardian, who will be required to sign the Declaration of Acceptance on the potential winners behalf and fulfill any other requirements imposed on winner set forth herein. Potential winners must continue to comply with all terms and conditions of these Official Rules, and winning is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements. In the event that a potential winner is disqualified for any reason, the Los Angeles County Fair Association will award the applicable prize to an alternate winner by selection of the Los Angeles County Fair selection committee. Only three (3) alternate selectionswill be made, after which the prize will remain un-awarded.
 
 8.  Prizes
 
Four Fair-y Tale Weddings (4) -- All expense paid wedding at one of the following venues at the Fairplex on Sunday, September 7, 2014; Sunday September 14, 2014; Sunday, September 21, 2014; or Saturday, September 27, 2014:

  • Luminasia
  • The Farm at Fairplex
  • Picnic Hill
  • Sheraton Hotel Lawn
  • Hall of Heroes (alternate site)

The goods and services to be provided by the Los Angeles County Fair Association (and Sheraton Hotel at Fairplex) to the winning contestants for the Fair-y Tale Wedding are:

  • Staged venue space.
  • Floral arrangements.
  • Wedding cake.
  • Overnight stay at the Sheraton Honeymoon Suite.
  • Champagne toast for wedding party only.
  • Lighting/sound equipment  (Pro A/V).
  • Wedding photographer (1 hr commitment only).
  • Wedding official.
  • Venue décor and theming.
  • Feature story on the Fair blog and social media sites.
  • One site visit and wedding planning consultation for couple.
  • Complimentary admission to the L.A. County Fair for couple and 20 guests.
  • The Sheraton Hotel at Fairplex will provide parking and pre-ceremony rooms (2) for each wedding party to prepare for their day. Guests to the Fair-y Tale Wedding must provide their own transportation and parking to/from Fairplex.

 

9. General Conditions
                               
In the event that the operation, security, or administration of the Contest is impaired in any way for any reason, including, but not limited to fraud, virus, bug, worm, unauthorized human intervention or other technical problem, or in the event the Contest is unable to run as planned for any other reason, as determined by Los Angeles County Fair Association in its sole discretion, the Los Angeles County Fair Association may, in its sole discretion, either (a) suspend the Contest to address the impairment and then resume the Contest in a manner that best conforms to the spirit of these Official Rules or (b) terminate the Contest and, in the event of termination, award the prize at random from among the eligible, non-suspect entries received up to the time of the impairment. The Los Angeles County Fair Association reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Any attempt by any person to damage the website or undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, the Los Angeles County Fair Association reserves the right to seek damages (including attorneys fees) and any other remedies from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Failure by the Los Angeles County Fair Association to enforce any provision of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.  Each winner of a Fair-y Tale Wedding may be subject to tax upon the value received; by making an entry to the Contest, each entrant promises to pay taxes applicable should they win the Contest.

Winners acknowledge that each wedding package has a fair market value.  Selected package winners must agree to sign a Declaration of Acceptance and provide a W-9 form to Fairplex.  All package winners are responsible for paying any applicable taxes on the cash value of their wedding experience (estimated to be approximately $3,000).  Winning entrants will be provided a Form 1099 for tax filing purposes.  Declarations of Acceptance will be required for signature from each selected winner at the time of notification.

 
 10. Release and Limitations of Liability
               
By participating in the Contest, entrants agree to release and hold harmless the Los Angeles County Fair Association, and each of their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, other companies associated with the Contest, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees, shareholders, representatives, and agents (the Released Parties) from and against any claim or cause of action arising out of participation in the Contest or receipt or use of the prize (including any travel or activity related thereto), including, but not limited to: (a) any technical errors associated with the Contest, including lost, interrupted or unavailable Internet Service Provider (ISP), network, server, wireless service provider, or other connections, availability or accessibility or miscommunications or failed computer, satellite, telephone, cellular tower or cable transmissions, lines, or technical failure or jumbled, scrambled, delayed, or misdirected transmissions or computer hardware or software malfunctions, failures or difficulties; (b) unauthorized human intervention in the Contest; (c) mechanical, network, electronic, computer, human, printing or typographical errors; (d)lost, late, incomplete, garbled, illegible, undelivered, stolen, damaged, delayed, postage-due or misdirected mail, entries, application downloads, (e) any other errors or problems in connection with the Contest, including, without limitation, errors that may occur in the administration of the Contest, the announcement of the winner, the cancellation or postponement of the event and/or the flyover, if applicable, the incorrect downloading of the application the processing of entries application downloadsor in any Contest-related materials; or (f) injury, death, losses or damages of any kind, to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrants participation in the Contest or acceptance, receipt or misuse of the prize (including any travel or activity related thereto). Entrant further agrees that in any cause of action, the Released Parties liability will be limited to the cost of entering and participating in the Contest, and in no event shall the entrant be entitled to receive attorneys fees. Released Parties are also not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by site users, tampering, hacking, or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest. Entrant waives the right to claim any damages whatsoever, including, but not limited to, punitive, consequential, direct, or indirect damages.

 

 11.Disputes
               
Except where prohibited, each entrant agrees that any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of, or connected with, the Contest or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the appropriate court located in California. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, entrants rights and obligations, or the rights and obligations of the Los Angeles County Fair Association in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of California, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules, which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than California.
 
 12. Privacy
               
Information collected from entrants is subject to Los Angeles County Fair Associations privacy policy.
 
 13. Winner List

To request the name of the four winners of the Contest, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to 1101 McKinley Avenue, Pomona, California, 91768, attention Marketing Dept.
