LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL COMMERCIAL BEER COMPETITION ANNOUNCES WINNERS FOR 2014
Pomona, CA- June 19, 2014 – A Belgian-style quad ale took the top honors at the 2014 Los Angeles International Commercial Beer Competition. Earning a gold medal, Choc Beer Co., Signature Quad took Best of Show among the 944 entries.
Judged in early June, the beer competition drew entries from as far as Iceland, Japan, Belgium, Rome and Mexico. Entries were up 46 percent from last year, with beers submitted into 84 divisions. Many styles and price ranges were represented. Beers were tasted by a 100-member panel comprised of BJCP certified judges, brew masters and beer industry officials.
This year, judges handed out 80 Gold medals, 82 Silver medals and 65 Bronze medals.

The public will get its first opportunity to taste the medal-winning beer at Cheers – L.A’s Wine, Spirits, Beer & Food Festival June 21, a fundraiser benefitting The Learning Centers at Fairplex. Cheers features the award winners from all the Los Angeles International Competitions (beer, wine, spirits and extra virgin olive oils), gourmet food trucks and dancing. A selection of winners will also be available for tasting at the Los Angeles County Fair, Aug. 29 – Sept. 28.
