In 2000, the Los Angeles International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition joined the world-renowned Los Angeles International Wine Competition, bringing together the finest international and domestic oils and an impressive panel of judges.

The 2015 competition received 620 oils from 348 producers. There were a total of 11 Best of Show Awards, 30 Best of Class Awards, 124 Gold Medal Awards, 134 Silver Medal Awards, and 122 Bronze Medal Awards. The 2015 competition received oils from Argentina, Australia, Chile, Croatia, France, Greece, Italy, Japan, Lebanon, Mexico, Montenegro, Morocco, New Zealand, Peru, Portugal, Slovenia, Tunisia, South Africa, Spain, Turkey, Uruguay and the United States. Several winners of previous international EVOO competitions have been featured in the Los Angeles International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition, making it a renowned standard of quality. 

The competition is judged in two categories – domestic and international – separated according to regional designations and fruitiness intensity levels. The competition also judges flavored olive oils.
